Rear Shock Absorber Help Desperately Needed 700 1989

First time poster so I hope I am doing this right.

I have a 1989 760 Turbo sedan with IRS. The driver side rear shock absorber recently went bad. The car needs self-leveling, Nivomat shocks. I have brought it into a couple of shops and have gotten work estimates to replace both shocks in the $900-1100 range mainly due to the expense of the shocks.

I ordered shocks on-line at

http://www.fcpgroton.com/volvo700shocks.htm#nivomat

I called the website to confirm the shock I needed. I ordered part number 60-129-4 which I thought was the right type of nivomat.

I brought the car to a shop that agreed to put in the shocks. The shop is now telling me that the shocks I bought are the wrong ones. They claim they even brought the shocks to a local Volvo dealership and were told by them that they were the wrong shocks.

My question is: did I buy the wrong shocks? Every website I went to that had parts pointed me to this shock. As you can tell I am quite confused. Any advice or suggestions anyone has would be appreciated.

Thanks.
