control arm bushing check 200 1986

I was told I needed Control Arm Bushings, but it wasn't indicated whether it was front or rear. When I had the front wheels off the ground recently, I pried up and down on the control arm at both front and rear bushing points, and didn't see any play. I realize these bushings can take a lot of force at times, so I'm wondering if my test is valid, although if there was a problem with them, I thought I'd see a bit of play.

I have to replace the ball joints soon, so I thought while they're off, I'd release the lower anti-roll bar link, allowing the control arm to pivot freely. I thought testing in this state might allow an accurate assessment of the bushings, yes/no?
