Fuel pump 700 1987

I have 740 87' non-turbo and after 270K the fuel pump died. I have installed used one but from the turbo model. The car is working now but I am wandering if there could be any problem in the future because turbo is using different pump!?
My second concern is: is it normal to replace fuel pump after 270K or bad FI relay killed the pump prematurely??? I have not had any problems with FI system before. Thank you for any of your opinions.
