Here's a question which sounds silly, and maybe is silly. Bear with me - I'm new to this Volvo lark.
My 89 745 turbo seems to blow an inordinate amount of steam. I have a five mile city commute in reasonable traffic, and the car always is warmed up well before I get to the other end, yet it is still steaming happil;y from the tailpipe when I get to the station - much more than any of the other cars I've owned. Is this normal, or do I have problems here? It's not oil smoke - doesn't smell, is white and disperses immediately.
Have only had the car a few weeks - it's a $1000 special, 200k miles, pretty good condition, comfortable to drive and goes like a train. I love it. I spent $500 getting a new timing belt fitted, front & rear engine oil seals, rear trans bushing and ball joints, changed all the fluids, and so far so good. Plan to do most of my own work in future, it's just that I don't have a garage and there was a foot of snow on the ground when I bought it. Us kiwis aren't used to all this cold white stuff, but being flightless we can't head south for the winter.
Anyway - sorry to burble on - just wanted to express my appreciation for this most excellent board, I've learned a lot just skimming through it. I now feel confident to deal with my saggy headliner and wet floors (didn't discover the latter till the big thaw!)
