1981 244DL engine oil leak problems 1981

Hi, i've recently acquired a 1981 244 DL from a used car dealer. i have noticed that there is oil leakage at 2 areas on the engine - at the engine oil cap and at the head gasket seal. the leak at the head gasket seal seems to be quite bad, and i was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas on how to rectify this problem. is it something that i can solve by myself, or should i bring to a mechanic to have it repaired? as usual, i'm trying to keep the maintenance cost for the car as low as possible, so any advice is greatly appreciated.
