factory amp? to have or not to have 200 1985

i have a 1985 240DL and it has volvo sound rear speakers and speakers in front doors i was wondering were is the external amp at i put a new cd player deck and 6by9s in rear deck and the cd player skips a few stores told me it might have a amp where would one look to find the amp in the car (dash/trunck) any help would be great and thanks!!!
