Oil smoke from recently turbo converted NA B23F 200 1983

I've been driving my 245 for a week and a half after adding a turbocharger to it's original B23F engine, and am now experiencing an oil smoke problem.

Here are the key points as I see them: The turbocharger is from a 1985 IC model car. It's the stock garrett T3. It appears to be in great shape. Upon installation, it spun freely with almost no play side to side, and zero endplay. I installed it with a B21FT downpipe, with integral catalytic convertor, with no exhaust beyond it. I kept smelling oil burning but never saw smoke from the tailpipe. Off-boost power was noticeably lower than before, and I thought high end power was lacking (despite using a B camshaft). To rectify this, I pulled the downpipe with the cat, and installed a cat-less downpipe. I suddenly have a LOT more power. Boost went from 7 psi before to 9psi now. Car now flies compared to before. Off boost power got noticeably better. Only problem is, it smokes at idle and on deceleration, and it's BAD. I'm guessing that this problem was here before because I could smell it, even though I couldn't see it. I'm guessing that maybe the cat was doing a good enough job of stopping the smoke where I didn't notice it before.

So I pulled the intake hose off the suction side of the turbo. It still is in just as good a condition as it was before. Spins freely, almost no side play, and zero endplay. It had been called to my attention that this problem may be from oil backing up in the drain line. I DID put the drain in the pan, as high as I could put it. I noticed that because of the angles of the pipes, the rubber hose going down into the pan is kinked. Could this be causing the whole smoking problem? Could my turbo really be fine and I just need to fix the drain? Thoughts? Thanks for the help.
