This is not to be considered "Volvo Gospel" because while I DO need to replace some of the front seals on my 1986 244, I have not yet USED these fittings. You can add, change and modify the list as you learn from using.
All the items are PVC. Most are Schedule 40 in strength.
One end: 1" female pvc...other end: 1" male threaded...Used for ______________
One end: 2" female pvc...other end: 2" male threaded...DWV, not SCH40.._______
One end: 1-1/4" female pvc...other end: 1-1/4" male threaded...Used for_______
One end: 2" female pvc...other end: 2" female threaded...Used for ____________
One end: 2" male pvc...other end: 2" female threaded...Used for ______________
One end: 1-1/2" male pvc...other end: Octagonal Plug...Used for ______________
As you use them, you put into the "Used for" blank how you used them. When I bought them, I took all the new seals to the store and got some fittings to drive the seals to be flush with the block and other fittings to drive them farther into the block if needed. Selection was based on diameters.
In one case the required diameter is so large that one or two reducing adapters are needed to get a diameter small enough to whack with the hammer in seating the seal. I think this is the main bearing seal.
No, I do not remember what the cost was. PVC is not expensive.
Good Luck,
Bob
