anyone ever replace those front metal brake guards on your 240? 200

as i replaced the calipers on the front of my 1989 240 dl, i noticed that the front brake guards are just about shot. the guards i am talking about are round metal disks that cover the back side of the rotors. mine are rusted alost in half.

i checked with volvo and they will special order them at a cost of $35 or so each.

is it worth it to replace them? have any of you ever replaced yours? is it hard to get the old ones off? any alternate suppliers? i am interested to hear your opinions.
