Hey again guys,
Lately I've started to notice that with prolonged application of brakes especially from high speed, there is vibration coming from my front wheels and I can feel it through the brake pedal. It only occurs when I'm coming down a mountain or getting off a highway, and only starts vibrating after I've held the brakes down for 10-15 seconds. During city driving with short & gentle braking everything seems normal.
Are my front rotors finally getting warped? My '90 740 is still on its original set of rotors and it's done over 140,000km (about 87,500miles). I've done 20,000km since the front brake pads were changed. At the time my mechanic measured my front rotor thickness and said they're pretty worn but
are just within the tolerance specified by Volvo.
If I do indeed have warped front rotors and need to change them, does anyone have any suggestion what I should get? Should I stick with original Volvo rotors or go for something like Brembo? Or the grooved ATE rotors at IPD? Anyone has any experience / comment on grooved and/or cross drilled rotors?
