Rocker Panel Molding Replacement 200 1983

I am trying to figure out how to put a new rocker panel molding on my 82 245 turbo. I have tried once and in doing so, broke the clips trying to figure out how to get it to pop into place. I followed the service manual instructions as best I could understand them. I didn't think they were very clear. Any tips or advice??? Thanks!
