rear sway bar rubbing 200 1977

I was lucky to find a pair of sway bars from a '79 242GT at a local picknpull for installation on my '77 244. Performance is greatly improved however the rear bar rubs against the panhard rod, creating a very unpleasant creak. Is there any way to fix this? I figured a few washers on the rod mounting bolt would help pull it away from the bar but would that adversly effect the suspension?
