my day at the yard and 164 ? 140-160

So this weekend I heard about a new junk yard out in the middle of nowhere that was suppose to have a bunch of Volvos that have not been that picked over. Being on vacation this week I could hardly wait to get out there and see what there was to see. I love going to new yards I feel like a kid in a candy store.

I think the best find was a 71 142E with only 78,000 miles on it!! This thing is hardly broken in. I'm not even really sure why it was out there. Aside from a dent in a front fender and the grill pushed in a little I'm sure when it first arrived there in 1996 it was in great shape. The sun and rain have taken there toll on the car. I could only imagine the leather seats where perfect. It's a shame I tell ya.

Well $275.00 later and many hours of wrench'n I walk out of there with engine, all wiring that goes with the EFI, tranny, and a complete A/C system. All looks to be it good order. Even the boots on the wiring harness are it good shape. I've never seen a more original engine compartment. I just about wanted to buy the whole car from him, but I need another project like I need another hole in my head.

There was a 73 164 out there that had a manual in it but it is sitting on the axles so I am not able to see what tranny this is. So my question is what would be the tranny in this car? I'm hoping the answer is M410.

Thanks for any info you can provide

Marc
