Had a couple questions about speedometers.

1) Will a 1987 vintage speedo work in a '92? I did this and the replacement speedo didn't work. Was wondering if this is a bad speedo unit or if the wiring, etc somehow changed over this period of time.

2) When did Volvo go to the matte black guage faces? 1990? Did the big tachs in 5-speed cars for these later years have the matte black face?
