740 16V Head gasket replacement. 700 1990

I have done a few head gaskets on the older 2.3 L engine.
I'm ready to re-install the camshaft carrier in a 1990 2.3 16V. Chilton specifies a "Liquid sealer" to seal the surface between the head and the carrier.
Does anybody know a product that is equal to whatever Volvo uses to seal these two parts?
Also, I mixed a couple of the hydraulic lifters, how critical is this?
I know how critical this is with the tappets of the older 2.3 L engines.
I have mixed them in other types of engines without any problems. Chilton book says "they are not interchangeable".
