Mirror Mirror on the dash 1800 1965

I'm about to finish up the interior, and for budget reasons have decided to install a DASH-CAP (trademarked). Looks pretty straight forward enough except the mirror needs to come out. The mounting arm of the mirror has a black cover over it and therefor cant see how it attaches to the dash pad. The vents came out easily with screws no problem. But how does the mirror come out. I can only guess there is a screw through the dash accessable from underneath. This is going to be fun if that's the answer because of the A/C.
I have been pre-planning a trip to Reno, Nevada (about 2,192 miles) in August to return the car to my daughter. Am planning to go HWY 40 Nashville, Memphis, Fort Smith, Oklahoma City,Tucumcari, Alberquerque, Gallup, Flagstaff, Las Vegas, and on to Reno. This will be the true test of how well I have spent my daughters money and how good a mechanic I am. I plan to take lots of pictures for the Brickboard and plenty of notes. If anyone in this Forum is in a close location on the trip, Id certenly like to see you. This trip will be on my 68th birthday, and expect it to be my last cross country adventure. Any suggestions appreciated. Remember this is an original 48,000 mile Volvo that hasn't been driven in over 18 years.
I'm Havinfun.
