Electrical connector on rear axle housing - what is it? 700 1990

I changed my rear axle lube tonight and noticed a wire leading to a electrical connection that is mounted on the housing right above the refill bolt. The connection has a tamper-proof seal on it. I assume this wire feeds to something inside the differential though I looked through the green manual wiring diagrams and couldn't find it listed. What is it?
