Valve ticking after overheating..is this common? 700

Last year my W/P seal started leaking and my car overheated. Not enough to ruin a headgsket or head but it still overheated and my valves started ticking. I changed my timing belt, front seals, W/P, and thermostat but the valves have kept ticking ever since.
Any ideas? Do I have to get that shim kit from IPD? Hopefully not. :)
