Front Seals, So far so good 900

Just a few questions......I have never replaced a seal.

Lubing the seals....Oil on everything OK? Lips, shaft, OD of seal, housing? Just dip the seal in oil?

Sealant....I took the valve cover off to get at the cam seal. Do I have to apply sealant to the bearing cap when reassembling?
