This is not the usual disconnected drain tube or even leaky evap. box. It is, as far as I can tell, simply condensation from the AC lines themselves. They are partially wrapped in that gooey foam tape, but enough is exposed that drips ever so slightly but regularly into the passenger footwell. Will rewrapping all the exposed cold hardware cure that?
I'm also wondering if leaves and junk could be causing some of the water in the box to dam up weirdly and run right out the big front flap (the one which opens on "recirculate" and also whenever the car is turned off). I poked around a little and noticed a fair bit of old, rotten leaves and muddy goo right along the front edge of the evaporator which is near that flap opening. The drain port itself looks unobstructed; I pulled the rubber tube off and looked up there with a mirror.
To clear that junk out I will have to remove everything a-la blower replacement, right (big sigh)? I wonder if I can rig up some kind of custom little hose on my shop vac to suck the crap out without having to get inside the box.
Any thoughts/experience/sympathies welcome!
