I'm putting new tires on my 245T and I reviewed the previous posts here to give me some direction as to sizing options. The car currently has 215/50 Dunlop Sports on it. They look good as the car has lowering springs (2"), however, I'm replacing the springs with the ipd "sport" versions and I'm afraid this size tire will look a little small since the car will ride about an inch higher. If I've read the Tire Rack charts correctly, stock 195/60's are 24.2 dia, and the 215/50's are 23.5.
Previous threads have suggested 205/55's as an alternative to the 195/60's. Their diameter is 23.9. Sounds like they'd look good to me. Well, I ordered a set of Continental Extreme Contact all-seasons in this size and a Tire Rack rep called and said he can't sell them to me as the load capacity is 200lb (per tire) less than stock.
It never occurred to me to consider this. I figured there wasn't that much difference in load capacity between the tire sizes and this was not mentioned in the threads that I found. Anybody run into this before?
