i own a 1988 740 gle wagon that recently failed a state mandated emission test. since i do not own the required testing equipment i had no choice but to send the car to a repair shop. the cat converter, O2 sensor and AAM have all been replaced and the result was worse than the initial first test. the only reason the AMM was replaced was that the mechanic noticed that it was the wrong unit for my b230f engine. during the initial test the result were within limit except for readings under hard acelleration where it was barely over the limit for hydrocarbons and well under the limit for CO. im curious about anyone's experience with this sort of problem. the engine was also tested for any vacuum leaks and none were detected. thanks to anyone with a suggestion
