Turbo noises 700 1990

My 1990 740 Turbo has a strange noise under hard acceleration. The turbo gives out the normal whine, but I also hear a large whooshing sound (like air rushing out) I checked the small vacuum hoses (even changed a few). Also, might be related, the turbo guage never goes into the yellow (into boost I believe). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
