AC woes 700

Since it just started getting warm here in the norteast, it's the first time I've been able to put a good load on the AC. The car is a 90 740 GLE with 105K and was well maintained. I acquired it in Dec.

Put a gauge (low side only) on it and it reads ~30lbs. Tried adding about 2 oz. of freon no change. Drove to work in 92 deg weather and the discharge temp is only 68-70 deg. There is plenty of water going out the drip tube but the low side is not cold in the engine compartment. The high side tube going into the firewall is very warm. AC fan runs fine. I'm thinking expansion valve (maybe?). Is it adjustable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
