I am used to replacing the brake fluid periodically. Whenever I do, I use Valvoline brand fully synthetic DOT 4. (Now the ABS formula -- whatever.)
So this weekend I changed the fluid in my '95 Ford Contour. That car calls for DOT 3 fluid.
Maybe I read the Valvoline label wrongly, but it does say "exceeds DOT 3 and 4"
So, was I safe to have used DOT 4 in there, figuring it is "more better" given it has higher specs than DOT 3 (and many DOT 4 brands)?
I ask this because the test drive revealed a definite pulsing of the ABS system at all times, not just heavy braking. Much more rapid than pulsing brakes like you get from warped rotors. Don't think I am feeling that.
Or, could it be that bleeding an ABS system causes some problem with the ABS unit and it remains "On" all the time?
