A surprise with the alternator 200

My wife's '79 stopped and it was clear there was a charging problem. I followed instructions in manuals (both Haynes and Bentley) and tested every blooming thing I could imagine. A guy locally, who does a lot of work on Volvos suggested I remove the voltage regulator and clean the contacts between it an the alternator. The "tang" in the alternator and the contact in the regulator both needed cleaning. A few strokes with some fine-grain sandpaper on both surface did the trick.

He was a big help and if someone else can profit from this guy's expertise, so much the better.

Jim Hampton
