Mom is wanting to get rid of her old wagon, and it is in need of a new steering rack. How much do these run, and what is the difficulty level of installation?

I'm debating talking her into a V-8 conversion for it, the car is clean, around 100K miles on it. Hasn't been driven in maybe 6-7 years. Needs paint, and probably would start with fresh plugs, battery, and tank of gas.
