'79 240GL Fuel pump and brake problems 200 1979

I am new to the Brickboard. I have a 1979 240GL (Automatic transmission) that has a couple of problems that I can’t seem to solve.

The car has a noisy main fuel pump, and had symptoms such as not picking up the last 1/4 of the tank, cutting out around corners etc. After reading all the posts & FAQ's regarding this problem I replaced the in-tank pump with a new one, including the short section of hose. The in-tank pump is now working, however the noise from the main pump is still there. I haven’t changed the main fuel filter yet though, or tested the fuel pressure regulator. Any thoughts on what else it may be?

I also have a problem with a high pitched squealing when driving the car. It is constant from low speeds as I accelerate. It only goes away when I apply the brakes, and then comes back straight away once I release the brakes. It makes me think that this could be old/perished brake lines that are not allowing the calliper pistons to return properly?
