940 vs 940T 900

I've always fancied the 940 series. Being a "beliver" in the long-lived volvo 4 cylinder and being on my third 240 I've thought I should seek out the best condition, best-year 940 wagon to convey me through the next five years or so... Which raises the question, turbo or non-turbo? From what I've read it sounds like a trade-off, increased performance for increased maintenance. I'm particularly interested in the opinions of those who have been down this road before. Especially if you've actually owned both models...

BTW, I'm planning on posting a related question on the 850 board, asking opinions on 850 vs. 940. I'd been planning on a late '90's 850 wagon but seem to read a lot lately about trouble with those cars. Opinions, anyone?
