Watch those idler and tensioner bearings!!!!! 900

The day after I bought my 92 960 I went to my parts guy for a new timing belt and while he was looking up the part #'s he said there may 2 part #'s. We went to look at belt to see if any #'s were on it and to our surprise the idler bearing had already lost it's outer race of bearings and was very rusty. there was no noise indicating a problem and needless to say this engine was only miles away from destruction. WE both instantly agreed not to even attempt to start the engine. I had the car towed home from there since he had to order that bearing(he had everything else)and it came the next day. The second problem was from the wife when she saw the car being backed into the garage by a tow-truck on the 2'nd day of owner-ship, you can only imagine the comments she had to say about her new brick even though I tried to reassure her that I was merely trying to save $3,000.00 . She's even driving with the drivers window now fixed closed because the gears in the regulator got eaten up, so if anyone has one they want to sell cheap I'll buy. I can buy a new one for $170 and she doesn't want spend that much. on the other hand if mine weren't working it would very soon. My wife thinks any money spent on a car is a waste of cash, enough about her. I've been called a fanatic about keeping my cars running, but you khow what happens when you let one thing go then it's another and it just multiplies.
