Oil Filters 700

Okay, I just switched to synthetic oil. I plan on changing the filter @ about 1,000 mi., and then again @ about 3,000 mi., at which time I'll change the oil again.

My question is, what is the majority opinion as to which oil filter is the best? I've read a lot about Fram(bad ?), Haan(good ?),etc., but have there been any studies that indicate which, if any, are clearly superior.

I want my 143k mi. turbo wagon to last as long as possible, and I don't mind spending a little extra for that to happen.
