question about a fuel pump 200 1984

hello everyone. I just bought a 244 with a bad fuel pump (i think that's the problem)The guy said it wouldn't start, but it would start with starting fluid, then it would run for a bit and cut off. This 244 is an '84, and i was wondering if i could pull the fuel pump from an '82 245 that i have and don't drive. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. thanks
