coil failure again! 1800 1972

Help, I keep burning up ignition coils. About one every 4 months. Besides being expensive it has also gotten me stuck in some bad places to break down. When the coil goes bad it's always a warm day and the coil gets so hot that you could cook on it. I then have to take the bus to the parts store for another coil whitch always fixes it. My car has the petronics electronic ignition because my point cam lobes were too worn to use points. Had electronic egnition for a year with no problem untill now. I don't know if it is related. Help!
