Engine mounts done 140-160 1971

I know it has been a long time since I've asked about replacing engine mounts, but money was tight. Two weeks ago, however, the sump started knocking against the cross member, so I've ordered a few parts from www.scandcar.nl who is very friendly and helpful (good source for me in New Zealand). It arrived last week, and today I've decided to fit it. Took me about 3 hours, but that was because of wanting to be the Master instead of the Servant. I've used the method I've described in my original post, of jacking up the engine at the bell housing. Worked like a dream, and used the weight of the body to pull the mounts free. After more than 30 years, the mounting bolts were off center. Unfortunately I did not think of ordering a transmission mount, so this is where the battle started: the engine was shifted back, and the mounting holes did not line up. My Masterhood said that the normal way is that you do not have to remove the mounting brackets on the engine to fit the mounts. It was not until an hour later that my Servanthood kicked in and I did it the way the car wanted me to: remove those 3 little bolts on each of the 2 mounting brackets. So the lesson is: if it does not work, don't get a bigger hammer, ask her how she wants you to do it (ladies are not impressed by the size of your, uh, hammer). Turned out to be a very easy job once I've removed the brackets, loosely put the mounts in, and fastened the brackets. Lowering the car got the engine pulled forward by the new mounts, then I could fasten the mounts. A note on the brackets: one bolt requires the use of a spanner, the other 2 can be done with a ratched. I've got a RHD B20B with no aircon pump, and the RH bracket was done from above. For the LH bracket and mount, everything was done from below. If aircon is fitted, perhaps you need to do the RH side from below as well, but I prefer flat on my back rather than bending over. The engine is now 2 to 3 cm (about an inch) higher, and the temperature sensor at the back of the engine now has slack in the wire! Looks like it was designed to pull out if the mounts are getting too low.
