960 lockup solenoid sticking 900 1992

I get hints from reading here that there is a problem with the converter lockup solenoid on some 960s. I saw reference to a TSB.

Volvo claims "no recalls". I can't get them to use the term "TSB" and can't really tell if they know what I'm talking about when I refer to one.

After warming up, the car (Feb 92) will sometimes shudder badly at low speeds when coming to a stop. This isn't a brake problem--it quits instantly when I put the car into Neutral. Placing an LED on the 12v output to the solenoid, it appears that the voltage is cutting off correctly. No codes ever set.

I've flushed the trans fluid and pulled the solenoid and inspected it, finding no visible problems.

Any info on this from Volvo? Anyone else had this problem and know for sure that replacing the solenoid will cure it? It's a $250 part, so I'd really like to be pretty sure of the fix before buying it. Any cheaped sources?

Thanks,
Spotty
