Friend has a new (to him) 88 240 with 297,000 miles. It will not start. What we do know:
1.Jumping fuses 4 to 6 runs both pumps, but will not start.
2.Seems to have good pressure at rail. Return line runs fuel from pressure regulator. No fuel in vacuum line on regulator. Must have good pressure and a leaking injector as it will run for a half second after it has been sitting for awhile.
3.Will run on starting fluid sprayed into the intake.
4.The 25 amp fuse is bypassed (don't know why)
5.Trouble seems to stem from another friend fooling with the AMM wires and possibly shorting out one of the wires (I was not involved so I'm not sure what Einstein did). Car will not start with AMM connected or disconnected.
It appears that the injectors are not opening to allow fuel delivery. Could someone tell me what I might be missing here and how to proceed? Is he in the market for a 554 ECU? Thank you.
