How steady should Idle Speed be???? 700 1987

Idle speed seems to be centered at 750 rpm, but it varies around the set point. Just from the tach on the dash, I estimate it moves +/- 50 rpm, maybe a little more. If this is more than expected, where should I look for the cause? Will cleaning the throttle body help?
