Tried to change oil Monday, but could not get filter off. It was sitting on the rubber motor mount.
I put in the right mount yesterday, and the job took too long because I tried to take shortcuts. Here is my advice.
Pick a good place to do the job so you don't have to move.
Use real ramps(take off the front spoiler to get clearance).
Use a floor jack to lift up the engine, don't try to use the scissors jack.
Drain the oil, remove the filter to gain access to bolts.
Remove Alterator and get it out of the way.
Position Jack carefully or the piece of wood you put against the pan will cock, slip, and break.
If the mount is broken, as mine was, don't underestimate the amount you will actually need to lift the engine.
Don't make the job take so long that you are working in the dark.
Hopefully you can get a mental picture of the job I did, and looking back, it was pretty funny.
Thanks to the Brickboard for all the advice. Now if I could just convince myself to follow it, and not try to take an easy way out, I'd be better off.
So, I ended up doing what I had told myself I wouldn't: Working on the car late at night just before it left for college.
