I recently bought a used 97 S90 in great shape; My first Volvo. Soon afterwards, about 700 hwy miles, I had heavy pulsation in the front end when braking. I turned the front rotors,(The pads looked brand new), and immediately eliminated the problem. Or so I thought.
After 1000 hwy miles (to Florida & back) the same problem returned. It seems obvious that the rotors are thin and must be replaced.
I have worked on a lot of my cars over the years, British, Japanese, Italian, and US. However, there is a device on each caliper which seems to be driven by gear-teeth on the inside of the rotors. What is this device?
The rotors at a couple of local shops do not have the geared-teeth on them. Are they crucial and where can proper ones be obtained ? (Besides a dealer)
Thanks,
Luis
