Saw this in the paper yesterday so went to have a look see. The ad said "needs trans". Apparently the trans mount was sagging and the kid broke the bottom of the tailshaft housing off on a curb. His dad took it off, had it welded back together, and reinstalled it but the AW71 trans started slipping a week later. On the test drive, the car wouldn't shift into the next gear until about 4K rpm. I gave the kid his $200 and drove to a parking lot where I could drain the extra 2 quarts out of the tranny (it was way too full). Then I took a zip tie and tied the kickdown cable to the wiring harness so it wouldn't get all bound up like it was. Car shifted fine all the way home. It won't go into OD, winshield is cracked, foglights are smashed off, paint is faded but everything else I tried worked. No rust and only one rip in the leather in the driver's seat
It's gonna be real tempting to up the boost on this one.
