What is purpose of the small vac hose on the plastic oil seperator elbow (large hose on top of elbow goes across valve cover to nipple on AMM to turbo hose)that goes into the back side of the intake manifold? Is this to provide vacuum to the crankcase during idle? Is it necessary? What would happen if it were capped off? Does the crankcase ventilation sytem need vacuum at all to work?
The reason I ask is that last weekend I installed a baffled oil catch/separator
to hopefully rid my hoses, intercooler, throttle body, and new turbo of all oil mist vapors. The separator is something I fabbed at work using a 7 inch section of 3 inch black ABS sewer pipe. The hose from the block mounted separator goes into it and out to the turbo hose nipple. Now the only way oil vapors can enter the intake manifold is thru this small hose. If I cannot get rid of it, perhaps I can route it also thru my separator. Thanks for any input.
