Or does anyone know how to contact him? I found some of his old posts, where he had the identical vibration problem that I have. I'd like to know if he ever found the cause. Here are a few "extracts from his (and one other poster's) comments:

engine vibration./
it's definitely engine related/
when the engine approaches 2500rpms/
seems to reduce as the rpms go higher /
never quits completely.

highway humm on my 86 740 N/A
a new harmonic balancer
solved part of the problem
moved humm up to about 2800-3000rpms.
directly related to the engine rpms.

had the harmonic balancer replaced
vibration that was at 2500 rpms
has now moved up to about 2900rpms.

Please note that this is NOT a driveline problem. The vibration is RPM-related, and can be produced with the Tranny in Neutral. It's there at idle, but not too noticeable till RPMs get up around 2000, and really obnoxious passing thru 2500.
All new mounts, Balancer looks OK with Timing Light (but I plan to change it), Torque Converter bolts all tight, Compression even across all 4 cyl. Anything else, or do I just learn to live with it (and wish I had another car, after putting about $2k into this one)?
