Noise from within bellhousing when shifting 200

When I shift and when I go from acceleration to coast or vice versa, I hear a rattle like something under the car is loose. There is also a noticable amount of lash in the driveline (slop, hysteresis, whatever).

Under the car, the drive shaft has no rotational or lateral play when I grab hold of it. Nothing visible is loose.

However, when I bang on the arm that protrudes from the bellhousing and attaches to the cluch cable, the rattle can be recreated. It's coming from within the bell housing.

Any ideas? One of the bearings perhaps? Could this be related to the lash in the driveline?

Thanks,
Eric
