Wiring Harness Job - Going Badly - Please suggest a solution cause I need help! 200

1985 Volvo 244Gl non-Turbo. I bought a Dave Barton used wiring harness and started the install this morning. It is now 10 hours later and I'm in trouble. The job went well. It was easy to remove the old harness, and everything seemed to connect just as it should. I even replaced all the vacuum hoses as I went. I was careful to mark them and only disconnect one at time.

After thinking I had the job licked I connected the battery cables back to the terminals and I saw a small spark jump from the terminal to the clamp. More current draw than the dash clock should pull, but less than an arc welder. I checked the fuses and all seemed in order.

I placed the key in the ignition, got a full complement of dash lights and when I turned the switch all the way to start; I heard a click, but not a solenoid click or the whirr of the starter. It sounded like a relay. This is a fairly new battery and by my estimation it should start. So - I have a no start condition and a bunch of possible causes.

I'm kicking myself in the ass right now because I planned this job for months and really took my time and did it right (almost).

BTW – which tab on the starter solenoid does the thin wire go to?

This should in no way reflect on Dave - His diagrams were very helpful and the wiring harness he sold me looked 1000% better than the mess I extracted from the car.
