760 turbo catches when turning over but won't stay running. 700 1985

Okay, I have a 760 turbo 1985, 230,000 miles. Recently it started to not produce any power when started. It couldn't turn up past 1000 rpm. Foolishly I pushed it and it stalled altogether. When I looked under the hood, the turbo was glowing cherry red and one of the plug wires was afire! After putting it out and getting it towed home (next day) I replaced plug wires and made sure oil and antifreeze were full. I tried to see if I could start it. It would catch but it wouldn't stay running. I thought okay, probably back-pressure, my cat-conv was plugged. I took it off. Same problem. I removed hoses to check the turbo and that was frozen up, wouldn't spin. I figured that was my problem. So I replaced, the turbo, the air mass sensor, the thermostat, the oil sending unit and changed the oil. (Hey, I was in there I thought, what the heck?) I still have the same problem. The dang thing will start to catch but just won't stay running. It is almost as if the timing was off. I hope I haven't totally ruined something. I don't where to start now. Help! Any suggestions?
