Catalytic converters 200

How do I do a comparison of catalytic converters?

I can seen nothing but prices from $100 to $700 without any backup information on performance or warranty. Why is this pig in a poke?

Dealer parts are generally over priced and resellers materials are generally undependable. Is the $600 purely so I can depend on it not being "pure" garbage?
