Fuel Injector, Gas Tank, Valves...Cleaners 200

These cleaners have "petroleum distillates" as the main ingredient. So, why can one use 1,1,1 tri-chloroethane or a hydrocarbon-type solvent as a cleaner instead of paying the money for these chemicals?
