What happens if... 200

....instead of jumpering the temperature compensating board, you just yank it out? Will the needle read all the way down or all the way in the red?

The reason I'm asking is that I recently jumpered one of mine, and the soldering job was nothing that I'm proud of, and now my girlfriend says the needle is jumping into the red. I don't know if it's gradual or suddenly. This is with new coolant & thermostat, so I'm hoping that the problem is in my soldering job with the jumper, and not that I need to fork out for a new water pump.
