advice on 740 AirBox Thermo ? 700

I am about to replace my suspected dead air box thermo (current one has flapper permanently middle/to left) and I can't find specific instructions for my 87-740T. The only ones I can find are for a 900series that says I need to take out the entire air box and I was wondering if anyone has a procedure other than that or one specific to the 740. If so please post any steps/advice. Thanks
