Relay-pre pump woes 200

I replaced a fuel pump relay 2 weeks ago because it got water in it due to a leaking windshield that I didnt know I had. Started fine after replacing and has worked fine until today. I drove the car went into Walmart came out and it wouldnt start. Plenty of fuel, checked fuses, it finally started after waiting 15 minutes. Drove 10 minutes, parked and tried to start it 30 minutes later and nothing. Waited 10m minutes and the damn thing started. For the rest of the day it started. What's going on here? I did the test for the pre pump where you turn on the key and listen for the pump to come on and I heard nothing. When I start the car i could hear the pre pump working when listening over the tank in the cargo area. So I assume the pre pump is ok. IPD told me the pre pump could be clogged (the sock or filter) I dont want to take out the pump if it's not the problem. I'm wondering if the problem could be in the wiring harness where you plug in the relay. If some how it was damaged from the water is corroded and is not making good contact with the relay. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Phil
